Assistant Coach Ashley Sauer

In October of 2019. Ashley Sauer was hired as the assistant gymnastics coach.

Sauer joins the Tiger family after being the choreographer class teacher at Rebounders Gymnastics. As the USA Gymnastics coach she worked with levels 3-10 on routine and techniques to help them prepare for the meets. She also worked as the Sports Information Director for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL).

“I am extremely excited to welcome Coach Ashley to our team,” Ramirez said.  “Her breadth of knowledge of the sport combined with her passion is going to take this team to new heights.  Her experience in the conference already as the EAGL SID will also be a huge asset.”

"I have been following Towson Gymnastics since I was a young athlete growing up in the area and have always been impressed with the rich history of the program and the amazing support that it receives from its alumnae and local clubs,” Sauer said.

“I am both thrilled and honored to be a part of Jay's coaching staff. Between the talent, desire, and pride that I see among the athletes on this team, I am excited to watch the limits we can push through this season, and in the future.”

Sauer was the Preschool Enrichment Director and the Marketing and Social Media Manager for the Kinetic Youth Academy & Ninja Warrior.  

She also was the Assistant Director at Harford Gymnastics from 2008-2016 where she coached scholarship athletes to Towson University, Ursinus College, Temple University and Gannon University. She also coached pre-team and compulsory from 2008-2010, then levels 8-10 from 2010-2016.

Before Sauer’s coaching stints in Maryland, she was the Athletic Communications Assistant at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. While there she coached level four through nine at the Lewisburg Area Recreation Authority.

A 2007 graduate from the University of Maryland, Sauer was a member of the gymnastics team and was named to the EAGL All-Academic Team from 2004-2007. She was a NAWGJ Scholastic All-American in 2006 and 2007 and was the Maryland Athletics Presidential Award Recipient in 2007. She graduated in the spring of 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in communication.

As a Maryland native, Sauer competed for Harford Gymnastics from 1992-2003 and was a member of Harford’s State Champion Team in level five, six, eight, nine and 10. She held two club all-around records that lasted over 10 years at level five and at level nine. Sauer was a two-time Eastern National Qualifier at level nine (1999, 2000) and a JO National Qualifier at level 10 in 2001. She was honored with the Maryland Outstanding Gymnast Award for level 10 in 2003 as well as the Harford’s Gina Faranetti Memorial Award in 2003. She received the Frank Yapps Memorial Scholarship in 2004.

Sauer currently resides in Harford County with her husband Roger, daughter Brynn, and son Winston


Volunteer Assistant Coach Jasmine Kauffman

Jasmine (Jaz) Kauffman joined Towson in September 2022 as a volunteer assistant coach for the gymnastics team.

Kauffman is a recent Towson alumnus, competing for the Tigers gymnastics team during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. During her time as a student-athlete, she earned EAGL All-Academic Team honors for two years in a row. Kauffman competed on vault and bars, earning a season-high of 9.800 on bars in 2020.

Kauffman transitioned to student manager for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She served as an integral part of the team, completing essential day-to-day and meet day organizational tasks.

Kauffman graduated from Towson in 2022, earning her bachelor's degree in anthropology. Currently she is continuing her education with the Tigers, working towards earning her Master's Degree in global humanities.
